Covid-19: Pharmacies and CTT launch drug delivery service at home

The service is prepared to respond to medical prescriptions, but also to the needs of other medicines and health products

The National Association of Pharmacies (ANF) and the Post Office of Portugal (CTT) joined together to launch, as of Thursday, March 26, a new home delivery service for medicines, in response to the Covid pandemic. 19.

«The Portuguese will be able to receive medicines at home throughout the country. A new pharmaceutical postal service allows citizens to place orders to pharmacies remotely, by 'email' or telephone. They will also be able to receive at home the medicines temporarily unavailable at their pharmacy, without needing a second visit», announced the ANF and the CTT in a joint statement.

The ANF and CTT emphasize that the initiative will "facilitate the quarantine of the Portuguese", avoiding trips to pharmacies to buy medicines.

The list of participating pharmacies and all the necessary contacts to place orders are available on the websites www.farmaciasportuguesas.pt and www.ctt.pt.

CTT guarantees next-day delivery for all orders placed up to 16 pm. "Given the current context of epidemic, the service will be available at a promotional price, until April 00, of three euros plus VAT per delivery", inform the entities.

"With this new service, CTT helps the Portuguese to comply with the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), delivering medicines at home, contributing to the safety and well-being of everyone", stressed João Sousa, administrator of CTT .

In her turn, Cristina Gaspar, vice president of the ANF, pointed out that "as the largest public health network in Portugal, pharmacies assume the responsibility of adopting all measures useful to contain this epidemic."

In the communiqué, it is also stated that «CTT has been, since the beginning, implementing measures to mitigate the contagion by the new coronavirus, which causes the covid-19 disease, in its retail network and in the entire process of treatment and delivery of mail and parcels”.
