Zoomarine reopens more sustainable and with better paid workers

Zoomarine's new season brings news

Zoomarine will reopen on the 6th of March and, in addition to increasing the remuneration of its workers, it will bet more on sustainability in 2020.

Albufeira Theme Park has renewed its car fleet and «already has vehicles without internal combustion. Visits to schools in the Algarve and Alentejo will already take place this year in 100% electric vehicles».

«The park is also strengthening its electricity production capacity and will soon reach 40% of its self-consumption needs, and will even fetch water directly from the Algarve sea so as not to have to artificially salinize pools and habitats and, in this way, improve even more the well-being of the animals that inhabit Zoomarine», according to those responsible for the park.

All this is part of an investment of 4 million euros that will be made this season, 2,7 million of which are supported by Turismo de Portugal.

Another bet of those responsible for Zoomarine was the improvement of the conditions of its workers, both of the 150 who work permanently in the park, as well as the approximately 300 seasonal employees with a direct contract.

"In 2020, the decision is to increase all remunerations by at least 5%, which corresponds to an average value of 10%, thus guaranteeing committed and passionate people", they assured.

Also in the field of sustainability, the Albufeirense theme park will promote several initiatives aimed at the community, namely the Zoomarine Race (3 April), Operation Praia Limpa (10 May) and Operation Montanha Verde (8 and 9 November).

The main restoration areas were also remodeled, which “now makes it possible to dispense with disposable and single-use products and give way to 94% of reusable, recycled or biodegradable products”.

Zoomarine will also feature three new diversions this year, the Ferry Boat, the Tower Faroleo Twist Manta, as well as two more movies in 4D cinema.
