Lagoa implements a work-life balance program

The signed text provides that workers in the Municipality enjoy days of rest, in addition to what was foreseen

The Chamber of Lagoa and representatives of the Union of Public Administration Workers and Public Purpose Entities (SINTAP) signed, on February 11th, an agreement to implement measures to reconcile professional, family and personal life foreseen in the program “ 3 in Line”.

The signed text provides that workers in the Municipality enjoy rest days, in addition to those provided for in the official calendar, such as their birthday, Christmas and New Year's Eve, Carnival day, or the afternoon of Thursday before Easter.

It also extends the granting of days for the death of family members, to degrees of kinship not previously foreseen.

This program also includes the increase in vacation days based on the evaluation obtained by each worker: three days for the excellent level, two for the relevant grade and one day for those who obtained the adequate classification.

This collective bargaining agreement was signed by the president of the Luís Encarnação Chamber and by the national secretaries of the Union of Public Administration Workers and Public Purpose Entities (SINTAP) João Paulo Barnabé and Victor Correia.

«The objective is to contribute to the improvement of the organizational climate. We believe that more motivated workers increase their productivity and raise the quality of services provided to residents. Whether the almost 23 thousand inhabitants registered in January or the 120 thousand that are in the county in August. Ensuring the quality of services and, if possible, improving it, is what we want», said Luís Encarnação.

In addition to the municipal executive of Lagoa, all directors of the autarchy and union representatives participated in this protocol act.

Reconciling the professional, family and personal life of municipal workers is the aim of the “Program 3 in line” to which the Lagoa Council joined at the end of 2018, with 10 other pioneering Portuguese municipalities in this area.
