Farense regains leadership of the II League, at least until Sunday

Farense regained the leadership of the II League, at least until Sunday, after beating, this Friday night, in Rio Maior, Vilafranquense by 0-3, with Ryan Gauld in the spotlight.

The Algarvian team scored in the first real scoring opportunity of the match, in the 23rd minute. After a cross from the right, goalkeeper Rodrigo Josviaki punched forward and, in the confusion, the ball fell to Ryan Gauld, who shot for 1-0.

In the 33rd minute, Sergio Vieira had to substitute, due to injury, for Jorge Felipe. Fábio Nunes took his place.

However, Farense did not acknowledge the low and, in the second half, after Lucca, on 55 minutes, having headed close to the bar, he even reached the second goal.

After a free kick from the left, Luís Rocha jumped unopposed and headed into the net.

The last goal of the game came in the 90th minute. After an incredible loss by Irobiso, Ryan Gauld put pressure on Izata, stole the ball inside the area and beat Josviaki for the second time in the match.

With this victory, Farense has 44 points, two more than Nacional, who only play at home on Sunday, against Académica.
