EB 2,3 João Lúcio hoisted the “Blue School” flag

The “Blue School” is an educational program of the Ministry of the Sea whose mission is to promote Ocean Literacy in Portugal

The EB 2,3 Dr. João Lúcio, in Bias do Sul (Olhão), flew the “Blue School” flag on the 6th of February. 

“Escola Azul” is an educational program of the Ministry of the Sea whose mission is to promote Ocean Literacy in Portugal.

EB 2,3 Dr. João Lúcio, belonging to the Francisco Fernando Lopes School Group, applied in the 2018/2019 school year and ended up being integrated in the “Blue School” network in the same year.

 

 

Throughout that school year, students performed various activities related to marine ecology. The most significant of these activities took place on the 2nd of April last year when, in just three hours of intense work, the students managed to collect the equivalent of 4 tons of garbage, in an extension of 2 kilometers along the Ecovia da Fuzeta, part of the park. from the Ria Formosa.

After the ceremony to award prizes of value, merit and excellence to the students of the referred school, the students named “Escola Azul” ambassadors and the coordinating teacher of the António Espadaneira initiative were presented, and their diplomas and medals were also awarded.

These ceremonies, presided over by Idalécio Nicolau, director of the Group, Fátima Duarte, coordinator of the establishment of the EB 2,3 Dr. João Lúcio, had as guests Manuel Carlos, president of the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta, and André Cardoso de Morais, commander of the Port of Olhão.
