365Algarve presents DeVIR and Ventania Meetings

These initiatives are part of the 4th edition of 365Algarve

The DeVIR Meetings, from the 13th of March to the 30th of May, and a Ventania, from the 14th to the 22nd of March. These are two more festivals, with the stamp of 365Algarve, which promise to liven up the Algarve. 

This year, “The Rescue” is the theme of the DeVIR Meetings.

The start will be in Faro where, in a single night, two versions of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring will be presented. “Le Sacre du Printemps”, by the outstanding French choreographer Xavier Le Roy, has been received with enormous success at some of the biggest European dance festivals.

“La Consagración de la Primavera”, by the award-winning Spanish artist Roger Bernat, is a unique experience for spectators who – guided by the indications given to them through individual headphones – also become interpreters.

Roger Bernat's challenge is launched again on March 14, in Loulé, where the Pina Bausch Cycle also takes place on this date, a small tribute to one of the greatest choreographers and dancers of the 2008th century, which includes Nelken Line, a workshop that will result in a video and in a performance, the show Debout! and a masterclass by Raphaëlle Delaunay, one of her former dancers, and the presentation of videos by Café Muller, Sagração da Primavera e Pina (Wim Wenders, XNUMX), three outstanding works by the choreographer.

On March 21, in Faro, there is another meeting, this time with Jêrome Bel, one of the most disconcerting and surprising creators of our time. “Rectrospective” is a manifesto against climate change. The event will also feature the reading of an unpublished text by Jacinto Lucas Pires, with illustration in real time.

On the 27th of March, “Encontros do DeVIR” rescues the solo “Maybe Ela Pudesse Dançar Primeiro e Pensar Menos”, a milestone in Vera Mantero's choreographic path that is part of the history of Portuguese contemporary dance. From Lebanon, “Under the Flesh” will arrive, a necessary and intense show that raises the question of the body in extreme situations, such as the wars that fuel political migratory movements that have Europe as their destination.

Moving on to Ventania – this will be the second edition of this Festival of Performing Arts in Barlavento, with contemporary circus, visual arts, theater, dance and even gastronomy.

On the 14th of March, in Sagres, the Tome e Embrulhe initiative will distribute paper bags on a large scale in the municipal market (it repeats on the 21st of March, in Lagoa).

On the same day, “The Invisible March”, a performative tour in the form of an artistic manifesto about the pollution of the oceans, goes out to the street, followed by “Atempo”, a contemporary circus show with acrobatics of combined forces, dance and physical theater , and “Windy”, a public art installation, of ecological reflection, with a soundscape (repeated on March 20, in Lagos).

Ventania Music & Food Experience is a performative and gastronomic experience that takes place in the interior of the municipalities of Lagos (March 15th) and Portimão (March 21st).

On March 20, in Lagos, the premiere of “Clean Water Act”, a creation commission directed to ballerina and choreographer Jenny Jacobsson, which addresses the impact of human action on ocean water.

On the same day, “02 Oxigen” is presented for the first time in Portugal, a performance that invites the viewer to reflect on how they could survive in a society where access to oxygen becomes a luxury. In Jardim da Constitution, the installation “Água” occupies the public space in a mix of public art and performance.

To commemorate the World Forest Day, which is celebrated on March 21, the KALE Dance Company presents, in Portimão, the show Terras.

The festival ends on March 22, in Lagoa, with the premiere of Jorge Salgueiro's Symphony No. 7, “Evocação dosElements Ritual”, performed by a symphony orchestra and selected musicians through open call, and the performance “O Grande Embrulho”, which brings together the languages ​​of clown, dance, music and object manipulation in a show with a strong ecological message.

These initiatives are part of the 4th edition of 365Algarve.
