“Ciclos de Laureados” by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul takes Miguel Sobrinho to Tavira

Miguel Sobrinho, winner of the Vasco Barbosa National Competition, is the next guest of the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, in the “Ciclo de Laureados”, for a concert on February 1st, at 21 pm, at Igreja do Carmo, in Tavira. 

With a view to supporting young national talents, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul maintains partnerships with several entities, namely with the organization of the Vasco Barbosa National String Competition, which culminate with the performance of awarded musicians in the Orchestra's concerts – known as Cycle of Laureates .

This year it will be the turn of violist Miguel Sobrinho to take the place of soloist in the concert “Jovens Solistas”. Accompanied by the orchestra's musicians and directed by his principal conductor Rui Pinheiro, Miguel Sobrinho will perform “Concerto para Viola em D major” by Carl Stamitz.

The program also includes the works “Symphony in E-flat major, Wk 18” by Carl Abel and “Symphony No. 38, K. 504, Prague” by Wolfgang A. Mozart.

Miguel Sobrinho currently attends a degree at the Royal Academy Music, in the class of professor Hélène Clément, and has been awarded several prizes in international competitions – Theodore Holland Viola Prize (2017), Historical Women Composers Prize in partnership with pianist Wouter Valvekens (2019 ) and received 2nd prize in the Mica Comberti Bach Prize (2019).

Tickets, which cost 8,50 euros, can be purchased on site, on the day of the event, from 20:30 pm.
