155th birthday of Tomás Cabreira celebrated in Tavira

Tomás Cabreira was a military man, teacher, writer and politician

The 155th anniversary of Tomás Cabreira's birth will be celebrated on January 26 at Casa Álvaro de Campos, in Tavira, the city where this remarkable Algarve was born.

The program for this event includes a tour of the city, a get-together, and music (see full schedule below).

Born in Tavira on 23 January 1865, Tomás Cabreira was a military man, professor and writer, having also been Minister of Finance in 1914.

The initiative is organized by the Associação Cívica Tomaz Cabreira, in partnership with Casa Álvaro de Campos and with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Chamber of Tavira.

– 10:45 am – Meeting
Welcome coffee at Casa Álvaro de Campos, Tavira

– 11:00 am – Tour through Tavira
“Through the places of Tomás Cabreira” – Guide – Óscar Caeiro Pinto

– 15:45 pm – Presentation of the associations – Pedro Jubilot (CAC) and Luís Barriga (CTC)

– 16:00 pm – Tertúlia – Tomás Cabreira, born in Tavira – Óscar Caeiro Pinto, Luís Barriga, Pedro Jubilot

– 17:00 – Music – Marcelo Montes, piano 2 pieces from the “tempo” by Tomás Cabreira, by composers Franz Liszt (1811-1886) Erik Satie (1866-1921)
