Rio nominates Amaral as regional representative and Rui Cristina as campaign director

Direct PSD elections are scheduled for January 11

Rui Rio, current PSD leader and candidate in the party's forthcoming direct elections, named Francisco Amaral, president of the Castro Marim Chamber, as regional representative and Rui Cristina, deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, as campaign director.

Amaral will be, once again, the regional representative of Rui Rio, as he had already been when the leader of the PSD ran against Pedro Santana Lopes.

The mayor says that "he embraces this candidacy of Rui Rio with renewed strength and great pride."

Francisco Amaral criticizes those who consider that Rio did not seek to unite the party, since, he argues, the current leader of the PSD invited, «at first, Pedro Santana Lopes to lead the list for the National Council, a list in which Santana Lopes placed the supporters he wanted. and that, curiously, they are the same advisers who now support Luís Montenegro and who face Rui Rio in the National Council».

For Amaral, «the PSD is gaining credibility and the confidence of the Portuguese».

As for Rui Cristina, he says that this is “a challenge of enormous responsibility”.

«We have a support team for Rui Rio's candidacy that encompasses the entire Algarve and all the social democratic district structures, such as the Social Democratic Women of the Algarve, the Social Democratic Workers of the Algarve, JSD Algarve and the PSD Algarve itself. it gives a great expression of strength for us to carry out our goals”, he adds.

Rui Cristina

Rui Cristina does not hesitate to say that Rui Rio is the candidate "deserving of confidence to lead the party and lead a serious and credible opposition, in which the main objective is to defend Portugal"

“Rui Rio is an upstanding politician, whom I admire for his convictions, the sense of State and the intention to make the PSD stronger and more united”, he concludes.

Alberto Matos, president of the political commission of JSD Albufeira, is the Algarve's regional youth representative and integrates this team with «huge enthusiasm, dedication and a sense of responsibility».

For the young leader, «the ability and courage to bet on the new generations, the clarity of speech and convictions, the fact of looking at Portugal as a whole and in a realistic way, the causes he has always defended such as transparency in the exercise of public office and the reform of the political system and its leadership that always put Portugal and the Portuguese first, without ever leaving social democracy aside”, are the main reasons that led him to support Rio.

When Cláudia Guedelha, MSD representative, councilor of Albufeira City Council and coordinator of MSD Albufeira, received the invitation to join this movement in support of Rui Rio «with great pride and honor».

The mayor sees herself "in the rigor, justice, humility, seriousness and honesty of Rui Rio's line of thought."

He reiterates that, «this moment of great importance for the future of the PSD, I support Rui Rio, because the future has to be a space where we can all have a place, with equal opportunities, managed with courage and grandeur».

Finally, Carlos Cabral, vice-president of the PSD Olhão political commission and member of the TSD Algarve, is the Algarve's regional representative of the TSD.

«I support Rui Rio because he made me believe that there is a solution for Portugal. It is aware of the country's reality and proposes an economic and financial plan that meets the needs of companies and workers», he says.

Carlos Cabral also considers “that Rui Rio's commitment to the country is unequivocal and his respect for democracy and freedom is unquestionable”.

Direct PSD elections are scheduled for January 11th. In addition to Rui Rio, there are also candidates Luís Montenegro, former parliamentary leader, and Miguel Pinto Luz, former vice-president of the Cascais Chamber.

For the rest, when it comes to Montenegro, in the Algarve it has the support of personalities such as Rui André, mayor of Monchique, and Cristiano Cabrita, president of the PSD/Albufeira.

Interestingly, Cristiano Cabrita was even deputy director of the…Rui Rio campaign in the last elections.
