The Moçoilas will give a concert in Portimão, on December 9th, at 21 pm, organized by the Group of Friends of the Portimão Museum (GAMP) and with a solidarity aspect.

The show with a group of three women who sing traditional themes from the Algarve and other parts of the South is part of the 5th anniversary of the GAMP and the celebrations of the “Dia da Cidade de Portimão”.

Scheduled for the auditorium of the Museum of Portimão, the performance of the Moçoilas will have free entry, but subject to available seats.

GAMP members must collect their invitation to enter, at the reception desk of the Museu de Portimão, between the 30th and 5th of December, without fail. After that date, the remaining tickets will be made available to the general public.

As it is a free show, during the Christmas season, the show will have a solidary aspect. for this reason, the organization suggests that each spectator «be the bearer of a food or hygiene item, destined to a social solidarity institution of the municipality, more specifically Lar Bom Samaritano», which welcomes children.

The musical group Moçoilas, now made up of Inês Rosa, Margarida Guerreiro and Teresa Silva, has just completed 25 years of life, which even motivates an exhibition that runs until December 17, at the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, in Faro.

To commemorate the date, in April they released their new album “Atão por não?”, which they have presented in several concerts.

The group, dedicated to collecting and promoting traditional music from the Algarve, was “Artista Figuras” of the Municipal Theater of Faro throughout this year, culminating last Saturday with a joint concert with «Galandum Galundaina». The concerts that the Moçoilas present together with Maria João have also been very successful.

The Moçoilas were born «from the desire to rekindle and recover the corners of the South, more precisely in the Algarve region. Forgotten or hidden in time and in the depths of a mountain full of sounds, smells, colors and unique knowledge, these songs are part and represent a large part of our cultural heritage, reflecting the soul and traditions of a Serra do Caldeirão, where the singing has always been a national identity».

They reinterpret old themes and enrich them “with their own energy, modifying some, appropriating others and paving the way for new melodies and new songs”.
