Algarve2020 had better execution of regional programs in 2018

«We are counting on good growth prospects», says Francisco Serra

CRESC Algarve2020 had the best execution of regional programs, at national level, in 2018, revealed the Agency for Development and Cohesion (AD&C) at the 12th meeting of the Monitoring Committee.

Gathered to analyze the execution of the program and assess the planned evaluation work, some emblematic projects were presented and a reflection was made on the lessons of the experience, with contributions from most sectors present that representatives of the European Commission and AD&C will take into account in the preparation and negotiation of the European Union's Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.

In the opening speech, Francisco Serra, president of the Algarve2020 Directive Commission, summarized that 240 tenders were opened, with a current commitment rate of 70,61%, corresponding to 922 approved operations.

The execution rate is 29,35%, according to provisional data for 30 November.

Francisco Serra commented that «we are counting on good growth prospects and we hope to reach a commitment rate of around 85% and an execution rate close to 35%, by the end of this year», of the total funds for the program.

The Monitoring Committee is responsible for monitoring the performance of CRESC Algarve2020, comprising a wide range of actors relevant to the region, including representatives of public institutions and municipalities, higher education institutions, economic and social partners and intermediate bodies, which collaborate with the Management Authority in specific areas of intervention.
