«Whoever wants to accompany and sing, let him do it». The invitation is made by Tomé Pires, Mayor of Serpa, where this Friday, the 22nd, begins the party that celebrates the five years of Cante's elevation to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The CantFest, which runs until November 27th, will feature a lot of Cante, which will even tour all the locations in the county that have active choirs, accompanied by snacks and wines, as well as with the presentation of books and projects, debates , a thematic exhibition and awarding of medals.
But the mayor of Serpa, in an interview with Sul Informação (listen and see above), explains the importance of Cante and its classification, as well as an account of the extensive program prepared, which even starts today, but in Lisbon.

17:00 pm — Presentation of Cancioneiro de Serpa and interpretation of Cante, at Livraria Ferin, with the participation of Rancho Coral e Ethnográfico from Vila Nova de São Bento
21:00 — Interpretation of Sing by the Vila Nova de São Bento Coral and Ethnographic Ranch, as part of the “Super Bock in Stock Festival”, at Casa do Alentejo
November 23 (Saturday), Serpa
10:00-20:00 — Singing Route in the Municipality (eleven groups from the municipality singing in Serpa, Vales Mortos, Vila Nova de São Bento, Pias, Vila Verde de Ficalho and Vale de Vargo)
17:00 — Opening of the exhibition “Descante”, at Casa do Cante, with an interpretation of Cante by the Choral Group “Os Ganhões” by Castro Verde
November 24th (Sunday), Serpa
14:00-20:00 — Cante Route in the Historic Center of Serpa (14 choral groups, from the municipality and guests). With the beginning scheduled for the Paços do Concelho, passing through several commercial establishments, and ending in the Wasabi space.
