Book “Intangible Cultural Heritage – The Anthropological Look” presented in Albufeira

Entrance is free

The book “Intangible Cultural Heritage – The Anthropological Look”, by Luís Marques, is presented on November 28, at 14 pm, at the Albufeira Historical Archive.

With this anthropological approach to the subject, Luís Marques seeks to enrich the reader through an approach to ancient times of humanity, cultural diversity, the multiethnic non-Western world, debate and international action before and after the Convention for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO, 2003), including the most significant general documentation.

The author also seeks to show the historical and cultural background and the political-institutional repercussions of this concept in Portugal, the intangible cultural expressions here considered World Heritage and those that appear in the National Inventory, without forgetting all the legislation on this subject produced in the country. .

Luís Marques is an anthropologist and director of the postgraduate course in Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as President of the Portuguese Association for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The renowned researcher dedicates the work, above all, to those who act or are interested in Cultural Heritage and, in particular, to those who want to better understand their own culture and the Portuguese Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The presentation will be by António Vermelho Corral, anthropologist, director of the Anthropology Section of the Lisbon Geography Society, co-founder of the Portuguese Association for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Admission is free.
