Lagoa celebrates the International Day of Educating Cities with “Saberes em Festa”

The 3rd edition of the Regional Meeting “Saberes em Festa” takes place on November 29th and 30th, at Centro Cultural – Convento de S. José, marking the International Day of Educating Cities, in Lagoa.

The program of this “Saberes em Festa” is made up of proposals for all ages and tastes. There will be gastronomy, walks through the city streets and a Youth Assembly.

The Lagoa Seniors Academy will also participate in the initiative. There will also be lectures on a variety of topics and music workshops for babies and singing and painting techniques for ages 12 and 16 years old.

The initiative aims to bring together and make known the multiple experiences of permanent education taking place in the municipality and in the Algarve region. It is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa and the Portuguese Association for Culture and Continuing Education (APCEP), with the support of the General Directorate of School Establishments – Regional Services Directorate of the Algarve and the University of Algarve.

The Cultural Center – Convento de S. José, in Lagoa, is the place that officially hosts this year's “Saberes em festa”, although some activities provided for in the program may take place in parallel in spaces of other cultural agents involved, of which they are examples are the associations “Artis XXI” and “Ideias do Levante”.

The multiple activities of this program, aimed at the areas of formal and non-formal education, within the scope of permanent education, are presented as a way to celebrate the International Day of the Educating City (November 30) celebrated in hundreds of cities around the world , this year under the motto “Listening to the City to transform it”.
