«Momentum» dinners take the forest to the plate, in Lagoa and São Brás

There are still tickets...but don't be late buying them

The dinners “Momentum – From the forest to the plate, a sensorial experience”, which combine the attributes of Portuguese cuisine with the appreciation of the forest, will take place on the 8th, at Convent'Bio – Convento do Carmo, in Lagoa, and on 9th November , at the Museu do Trajo, in São Brás de Alportel, as part of the Forgotten Food Festival.

As is often the case at events included in 365Algarve's programming, tickets for these two different dinners – with five courses and animation integrated into the concept – are rapidly disappearing. For Lagoa, there are already few, while for São Brás there are even more tickets available.

The entire concept of the festival was designed for the participation of small groups. "These events will take place in protected sites or should be, so we could never have a large load of people," said one of the organizers, Alexandra Santos, to Sul Informação.

This "gastronomic experience" will be provided by students of the Master in Innovation in Culinary Arts at the Estoril School of Hotel and Tourism, who created a menu that "reflects the production cycle, respect for the identity of territories, the proximity of products to origin and the way they are treated in the kitchens», explains the QRER cooperative, the entity that promotes the Forgotten Food Festival.

The idea is to meet the association's principles Plant a tree, which challenged the students of this course to create the menu, and who go through the recovery of biodiversity and the strengthening of ecosystems.

«The dishes follow the life cycle of the tree and demonstrate the concern to take care of environmental and food sustainability, valuing our forests», framed the QRER.

In addition to gastronomy, there will also be a cultural aspect, which includes «performances linked to the imagery of the forest, seeking to combine theatrical activity with the awareness of guests to the theme in question, which, in everyday life, involves individual and collective action» .

Over the course of the dinner, a narrative will be told with sounds, smells and images from short films that were developed by students from the School of Social Communication of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.

«The dinner begins with fire, which symbolizes destruction and an awareness of forestry issues, passing through the seed, shoot, leaf (green, dry), flower and fruit. Each moment will be served in a support specifically designed for this experience. The menu concept also reflects the concern with the use of local and uncommon raw materials such as barley, plant sprouts, rosemary honey and wild boar», explain the event organizers.

The Forgotten Food Festival, integrated in the 365Algarve program, is promoted by Cooperativa QRER, being a collective conception of its Baroque, Cultural and Touristic Products (Susana Calado Martins) and Alexandra dos Santos Design cooperators, with the collaboration of Pedro Bartilotti .

Tickets for each of these sensory dinners cost 35 euros, but include five courses, wine, as well as entertainment throughout the night.
