This will be the first session of the cycle “Ecosystem of Innovation of the Algarve”, which is being jointly promoted by the Algarve Systems and Technology Partnership (Algarve STP), by the University of Algarve and by Algarve Evolution, partners of the Algarve Tech Hub.

According to Algarve STP, an entity that brings together public and private partners, «the attraction of capital for growth is one of the first elements necessary for the development of innovation ecosystems».

“In addition to promoting entrepreneurship, valuing creativity and retaining talent, venture capital presents itself as a multiplier and accelerator element of the growth of ecosystems,” he added.

It is in this context, and «with a view to promoting the dynamics of the Algarve Tech Hub», that this workshop takes place.

The partners of the company running the workshop have credits, on the one hand, in the financial area, and, on the other, in entrepreneurship.

Created in 2017, this venture capital «has a portfolio of more than a dozen subsidiaries and focused on disruptive technologies. With an initial fund of 47 million euros, it invests between 150 thousand and 5 million euros per company».

In addition to managers Stephan Morais and Ricardo Torgal, the company has Cristina Fonseca, who helped found and is a shareholder in the startup unicorn Portuguese Talkdesk, although he is no longer in charge of this company. Are considered unicorn as startups valued at over a billion dollars. Talkdesk was the third in Portugal to gain this status, in 2018.

This is an event open to the general public, promoted under the KCITAR project, financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 program.

A few days before promoting this workshop, on the 18th of November, Algarve STP and Start Up Portimão will organize the first informal meeting between all the Algarve Incubators, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão.

Algarve STP has as partners the University of Algarve, Anje, the Câmara de Faro, Loulé and Portimão, Docapesca and the association Algarve Evolution, a list that is expected to grow soon, with new entries.

«In addition, the association has signed a formal agreement with Altice, informal partnerships with Altice Lab, Fraunhofer Institute Portugal, among others to be closed shortly. One of the objectives is to make the Algarve's Ecosystem of Innovation more dynamic”, summarized Algarve STP.
