The Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos (CCVL), through its director Luís Azevedo Rodrigues, will present and develop work at the invitation of institutions in South Korea, in Asia, between 6 and 14 November.

The various work and cooperation tasks involve Science and Technology Activities for Seniors, Science Communication training for South Korean students and research work on the paleontological heritage of this Asian country, in particular the dinosaur footprints.

Luís Azevedo Rodrigues will be one of the guest speakers at the International Symposium of Science Museums, at the National Museum of Science in Daejeon, considered the Korean “Sillicon Valley”, where he will present the work developed with seniors by CCVL.

This work derives not only from the experience of five years that CCVL has been working with seniors from the municipalities of Lagos and Silves, but also from the research of this type of activities worldwide, and from the growing importance of the Silver Economy, work systematized in the magazine Spokes, of the European Association of Museums and Science Centers, under the responsibility of Luís Azevedo Rodrigues and Sara Mira, of the CCVL.

These experiences had already been selected to be presented by Luís Azevedo Rodrigues at the World Summit of Museums and Science Centers, in Tokyo, in 2017.

After participating in the International Symposium, Luís Azevedo Rodrigues goes to Chinju National University of Education, where he will minister a workshop introduction to Science Communication, its importance, techniques and applications.

Also at the invitation of this University, the director of CCVL, a paleontologist, will make several working visits to the South Korean paleontological heritage, in particular to some deposits of dinosaur and pterosaur footprints, as well as to the collections of various Natural History museums.

These CCVL works in Korea are supported by the South Korean institutions involved, namely the National Science Museum in Daejeon and the University of Chinju.
