Câmara awarded the gold medal of cultural and sporting merit to Aljezurense

Club completes 50 years of existence

On November 1st, the Aljezur City Council awarded a medal of cultural and sporting merit – gold, to Juventude Clube Aljurezense, an emblem that celebrated 50 years of existence.

This ceremony fulfilled the decision of the City Council, taken unanimously at an ordinary meeting on the 24th of June.

«It was a fair tribute in recognition of the dedication and work developed over 50 years in favor of sport, namely in the areas of football, cycling and cycling tourism, athletics, petanque, skating, futsal, motorcycling with the motorratos section, snooker, among others», says the City Council of Aljezur.

José Maria da Luz, founding partner of Aljezurense, exposed, on the occasion, a little of the life of this club over the 50 years.

José Gonçalves, president of the Aljezur Chamber, on the other hand, reinforced the public recognition and gratitude for the work of hundreds of men and women, who have been part of the various directions, throughout the history of this club.

He also appealed for encouragement and challenge, to all members and directors of associations and clubs in our municipality, to look to associations, which today face various problems, but which continues to play a decisive role.

At the end there was a dinner, in which the Juventude Clube Aljezurense honored, with the 50th anniversary medal, some of the former directors and members.
