600 students from the groups of schools in Lacobrigenses Gil Eanes and Júlio Dantas will join the afforestation action Terra de Esperança Movement, which will promote the planting of 110 trees in 14 municipalities in the country, including the municipality of Lagos, by the end of November.

In all, 4500 students from schools in Lagos, Cascais, Torres Vedras, Mangualde, Braga, Monção, Manteigas, Celorico da Beira, Castelo de Vide, Évora, Mértola, Alcobaça, Sardoal and Fornos de Algodres are involved in the project.
With the planting of over 110 trees, the «Movimento Terra de Esperança will approach the 300 trees planted in Portugal since 2017. The goal is to reach 500 by April 2020», according to the Galp Foundation, which launched the Land of Hope Movement in partnership with the National Association of Forestry, Agricultural and Environmental Companies (ANEFA).

The action that will run until the end of the month will serve to mark the Day of the Indigenous Forest, which is celebrated on 23 November.

The 500 trees that will be planted under this project were offered by Fundação Galp. "In total, these trees will represent an area equivalent to around 600 football fields."

The Terra de Esperança Movement predicts that the last of these trees “will be planted in April 2020, thus fulfilling a reforestation plan that will involve, in the coming months, partnerships with 18 municipalities and with the ICNF – Institute for Nature and Conservation Forests'.
