250 million investment creates 5-star villas, apartments and hotel in Lagos

Kronos Home bets on this resort

Another 5 star hotel, 103 villas and 357 apartments. This is, in general terms, the “Palmares – Ocean Living & Golf” project, in Lagos, in an investment of 250 million euros.

There is already a 27-hole golf course on that site, as well as a 5-star boutique hotel with just 20 rooms, opened in 2017 by the Onyria group.

Now, Kronos Home wants to give a upgrade to the project.

Thus, Palmares – Ocean Living & Golf will be a resort with a beach, a 27-hole golf course, hotels, villas and apartments. The project foresees the construction of 460 units, of which 103 are exclusive houses and 357 apartments, but with a construction density of only 5,7% of the approximately 200 hectares that comprise it.

The resort will also include a new clubhouse and two five-star hotels – one already in operation, with 20 rooms, and another under development, with 152 rooms. There will also be a set of sports and leisure infrastructures.

The launch event, which took place at the internationally recognized Palmares golf course, was attended by more than 200 guests, including Paulo Reis, vice president of the Lagos Chamber, international investors and several clients.

Rui Meneses Ferreira, a partner at Kronos Homes in Portugal, said that it is «with great enthusiasm that we started this Kronos Homes project in Portugal».

«Palmares is a privileged area, located between the Bay of Lagos and the Alvor estuary, where natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes are combined with a very elegant and unique architecture. We hope that those who visit us will recognize Palmares as a peaceful, exceptional and truly inspiring place», he added.

Paulo Reis, on the other hand, considered that this is “an ambitious program, guided by excellence and high quality standards”.

«We are certain that, as has happened so far, the commitment of the promoters, the qualification of the technical teams involved, the availability and openness of the municipality of Lagos and the assumption that we are all partners in the search for the best solutions, will make it possible to implement of something unique that the place, the municipality and the Algarve deserve. After laying this first stone, I would venture to say that the best is yet to come», he added.

The first “Palmares Signature Apartments” were developed by RCR Arquitectes, awarded in 2017 with the Pritzer prize, the most prestigious award in the world in architecture.

“This project has environmental sustainability as a principle and will have a Breeam certification, one of the main internationally recognized certification systems for building sustainability. Likewise, its unique architecture favors integration into the landscape and preservation of the natural environment of Palmares. All units will have a sea view – over the bay of Lagos and the Alvor estuary», explains Rafael Aranda, founder of RCR Arquitectes.

The construction of the new Clubhouse, also with RCR signature, has already started and should be completed in the third quarter of 2020.

Kronos Homes arrived in Portugal in 2018, starting its international expansion from Spain. In addition to the Palmares project, the company has four other projects already under development in the country, two in Lisbon and two in the Algarve.
