Churches in the municipality of Loulé are the stage for another Ancient Music Meeting

All shows are free.

The XXI Ancient Music Meeting of Loulé Francisco Rosado takes place from the 5th to the 27th of October, in the municipality of Loulé.

This is an event whose main objective is the dissemination of music made between the Middle Ages and the end of the XNUMXth century.

At the opening of the program, this Saturday, the 5th, at 21 pm, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Querença, the Dutch group Radio Antiqua joins countertenor Leandro Marziotte to invite viewers to enjoy the vocal and instrumental music of Handel, one of the greatest composers of the Baroque period.

“Händel & co. from Italy to England” is a portrait of Handel's London, together with other composers who were his collaborators or competitors: the listener will be taken behind the scenes of one of the greatest musical empires of the XNUMXth century.

This will be followed, on the 12th, at 21 pm, at the Church of S. Sebastião de Boliqueime, with the participation of the Portuguese group Ventos do Atlântico, which brings us a program where the historical organ becomes the protagonist, whose contrast and richness of sound are highlighted by the more intimate colors of the wind instruments. “Music for woodwinds from Italy to Germany in the early seventeenth century” is the motto for tonight.

Another Portuguese project – O Bando de Surunyo – appears at this meeting on the 13th of October, at 21 pm, at the Igreja de S. Francisco, in Loulé, with “Ua Enselada Ibérica”.

The Iberian Peninsula presents, during the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, a very rich cultural framework that, based on a matrix of thought common to all of Europe, has, however, characteristics that are distinctive to it. A commented concert that focuses on the Iberian vocal repertoire of this period.

The group Scaramuccia (Netherlands/Portugal) will present spectators with the most beautiful Italian instrumental music of the 19th century, on the 21th, at 00 pm, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Quarteira. “1717. Memories of a Trip to Italy” includes not only pieces that Pisendel brought from a trip to Italy, but also other discoveries from his personal collection.

On October 20, at 21 pm, at the Igreja Matriz in Loulé, coming from Canada, the Ensemble Caprice will delight the public with a fabulous program, in a fusion of French and Italian baroque.

In what will also be a pedagogical activity, the Ensemble de Flutes de Loulé joins the Consort de Flutes of the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa in a master flute course with Matthias Maute, flutist, composer and director of the Ensemble Caprice.

This activity, which will be developed over the weekend, will culminate with a concert on Sunday, October 27, at 18 pm, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Alte. The program will feature pieces from the Baroque and Renaissance period in arrangements for others of flutes, among other surprises.

Once again, the baroque instruments, the ancient repertoire and the historically informed interpretation will make the municipality of Loulé the capital of ancient music during the month of October.

«The intention here is to carry out a rigorous selection of groups specialized in historically informed interpretation, investing in the diversity between vocal and instrumental music, national and foreign», says Ana Figueiras, artistic director of this event.

All shows are free to enter.
