Feira de Santa Iria is back to Faro between Friday 18th and 27th October, at Largo de São Francisco, and promises “a week of intense entertainment”.

The Chamber of Faro recalls that the event has «several centuries of history» and «it is one of the oldest and most traditional fairs in the region».

Although it is not possible to precisely specify the year of its origin, the municipality emphasizes that "there are manuscripts that refer to the year 1596 as the year of the first free fair".

The name of the fair is due to the coincidence of the calendar with the day of Santa Iria and the City Council emphasizes that this «has always been a business opportunity and contact with different cultures and novelties».

Today, «it is an animation center much awaited by national and foreign visitors and is a visiting card of excellence at a time when many locals have lost the tradition of fairs», adds the municipality.

Among the fair's attractions are exhibitions, institutional stands, entertainment for children and adults, food and drink, handicrafts, the sale of various products, such as traditional food, clothing and gastronomy from various parts of the country.

The fair will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 14 pm to 00 am and between Sunday and Thursday from 1 pm to midnight.

To facilitate parking during the fair, as the event occupies the Largo de São Francisco park, from this Wednesday, October 16th, the Pontinha Park will be free, on weekdays, until October 25th .

Feira de Santa Iria is organized by Ambifaro in partnership with the City Council.
