Exhibition on adaptation to climate change travels through libraries in the Algarve

Exhibition has been open since this Monday in Loulé

Adaptation to Climate Change in the Algarve will be the theme of an exhibition that AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve will take to libraries in the region. The initiative started this Monday, October 7th, in Loulé, and will continue until the end of next year.

“The Algarve transforming weaknesses into opportunities” is the motto of this exhibition, which is based on the work that AMAL developed in the Intermunicipal Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change.

"Climate change is increasingly a global concern, with the emission of gases causing the greenhouse effect, mainly due to human action, being responsible for profound changes in the atmosphere and modification of weather patterns", explains the association of municipalities.

O Intermunicipal Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change, promoted by AMAL and available here, «identifies the strategic options and adaptation measures necessary to increase the resilience of the territory and populations and reduce the Algarve's vulnerability to situations such as the advance of the sea and extreme heat, among others».

It was within the scope of this plan that this exhibition was developed, which will tour the municipalities of the Algarve, in a project that has the support of BIBAL – Algarve Libraries Network.

The Intermunicipal Plan is a project co-financed by POSEUR – Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources/2014-2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, through the Cohesion Fund.
