Corvette da Marinha rescues boat adrift off Olhão

Boat was towed safely to the Port of Olhão

The corvette João Roby, of the Portuguese Navy, rescued yesterday, the 30th, a fishing vessel that was adrift off Olhão.

During the Culatra 2019 exercise, the ship detected a small boat inside the military exercise interdiction area.

After having tried to contact the vessel by radio, without success, a garrison of the NRP João Roby «approached the vessel and found that it was adrift, without propulsion capacity».

«The vessel was towed to a safe area, being accompanied by the semi-rigid corvette João Roby, until the arrival of a boat from the Port of Olhão Captaincy, which continued the tow to the port of Olhão», according to the Portuguese Navy.
