Campo da Penha and Neves Júnior will have new pitches

New "carpets" cost 226 thousand euros

The Football Field of Penha and the Football Field of 7 of EB 2/3 Dr. José Neves Júnior, in Faro, will have new synthetic lawns. The replacement work has already started and will cost around 226 euros.

The contract for Campo da Penha was awarded to Sociedade Mondo Portugal, SA for 144.577 euros.

According to the Chamber of Faro, the objective «is to provide sporting with higher levels of safety, quality and comfort on a lawn dating back to 2006 and which has supported intensive use every day of the week, from morning to night during all these years».

The contract for the requalification of the synthetic turf at EB 2/3 Dr. José Neves Júnior was awarded to Sociedade RED – Relvados e Equipamentos Desportivos, Lda., for 82.678 euros.

“This enclosure is used by the school's students during the day and hosts some training sessions from local clubs at the end of the day”, explains the municipality.

This sports equipment will also receive work to improve the fence, such as the Horta da Areia field, which last year received a new lawn.

“The new lawns substantially reduce the risk of injury by favoring better impact absorption. Highlight also for the better resistance and for the drainage capacity, characteristics that are expected to ensure a greater durability of these lawns in relation to the previous ones», concludes the Chamber of Faro.
