The Sociedade da Água de Monchique will interrupt the production and supply of Água Monchique to the market, until the beginning of next December, following the investment of 7,8 million euros it is making in the requalification and modernization of the manufacturing unit in Caldas de Monchique.
In the last month of 2019, supply to the market will be resumed with 5-liter bottles, which the company considers to be “fundamental” for Portuguese families. In early 2020, the remaining family Monchique will be available on the market, with news.
The stoppage in production is due to the need to replace the current bottling lines with new, more modern options, which «will allow the company to improve its performance and provide an adequate response to the market», explains Sociedade da Água de Monchique.
According to Vítor Hugo Gonçalves, CEO of Sociedade da Água de Monchique, the project that is being implemented «is fundamental for the viability and future of the company. It will allow us to achieve leadership in the water market in Portugal, strengthen the company's strength, increase our export capacity and grow our brand».
The official also guarantees that "this stop will allow us to return to the market with more strength and greater geographic coverage capacity, thus allowing us to respond to the requests of our consumers, always with the same quality and the same differentiation".
In March, during a visit by the Secretary of State for the Economy to the company's premises in Caldas de Monchique, Vítor Hugo Gonçalves had stressed that «this investment will allow more than doubling the production capacity. But, more than that, what matters to us is to be able to give our consumer a higher quality product, with a different image, with other aesthetic features - and the water will be the same, with the quality that suits it. is recognized and with the differentiation of being hyper-alkaline»
Sociedade da Água de Monchique SA has operated the public mineral water concession in Monchique since December 16, 1992. Distinguished for the second consecutive year with the status of SME Excellence, it is currently one of the largest players in the national market.
