Lagos exposes “Places of Sophia”

The exhibition will run until the 26th of October

The exhibition “Places of Sophia”, with photographs by António Jorge Silva, Duarte Belo and Pedro Tropa, opens on the 14th of September, at 17:30 pm, at the Centro Cultural de Lagos.

With this exhibition «the intention is to provide a visual interpretation of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen's poetic relationship with places, with special reference to the maritime landscape», explains the organization.

The invitation made to the photographers «aims to put, side by side, the point of view of three artists who have different poetics, embodying an unprecedented reading of the poet», he adds.

The exhibition will run until the 26th of October and is part of the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sophia de Mello Breyner, the poetess who had a home in Lagos and has always had a close relationship with the Algarve.

In Lisbon, “Places de Sophia” will open in November, at the Convento do Carmo – Barracks of the National Republican Guard, where it will be on display until the end of the year.

The exhibition is curated by Federico Bertolazzi and José Manuel dos Santos, with the sponsorship of the Câmaras de Lagos, Loulé and Lisbon, as well as the support of MDS – Corretor de Seguros and Porto Editora.
