Alfanzina and Santa Maria lighthouses set visitor records

These lighthouses were open to visitors every day of the months of July and August

The Alfanzina lighthouses, in Lagoa, and Santa Maria, in Faro, broke the record of visitors, during the months of July and August.

These lighthouses were open to visits during every day of July and August, under a protocol between the National Maritime Authority, the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), the Municipal Councils of Faro and Lagoa and the “Designers do Sul” and “Lagoa Académico Clube” associations.

This protocol, which is repeated for the 3rd consecutive year, "has proved to be a successful initiative, both in terms of the voluntary involvement of young people in the region in the dissemination of their heritage, as well as in the number of visitors", says the Maritime Authority.

The number of visitors this year to the Faro6450 for Santa Maria was 2440 and for Alfanzina 40. These figures represent “an increase of approximately 14% compared to the first year of this collaboration and XNUMX% compared to last year”.
