VRSA will join the National Support Network for Victims of Domestic Violence

Protocol was signed with the Secretariat of State for Citizenship and Equality and the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve

Vila Real de Santo António City Council will integrate the National Support Network for Victims of Domestic Violence. The measure aims to strengthen the protection and fight against violence, in particular against women, promoting cooperation between the different sectors that intervene in this area.

The protocol was signed with the Secretariat of State for Citizenship and Equality and the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve and includes municipalities, support and social protection institutions, schools, security forces, as well as other public entities and IPSS, as is the case with Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV).

In addition to developing prevention measures, "the initiative provides for the existence of a technician who will guarantee weekly service and will promote the referral, support and protection of victims of domestic violence, ensuring the confidentiality and effectiveness of the response according to the diagnosis of the situation », explains VRSA Chamber

According to the autarchy, «the promotion of networking and institutional cooperation are also objectives of the project, as well as the development of studies and diagnoses on the problem of domestic violence, already identified in the Social Diagnosis of the municipality of VRSA».

These measures are part of the National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination 2018-2030 «Portugal + Igual», approved by the Council of Ministers.
