Vicente de Mateos remains in 3rd overall in the Volta a Portugal

O algarvian Vicente García de Mateos (Aviludo-Louletano) remained in 3rd place overall in the 81st Tour of Portugal Santander after the 5th stage of the race, which today linked Oliveira do Hospital to Guarda and was won by the Italian Marco Tizza (Amore & Vita-Prodir).

Today's results left everything the same at the top of the overall standings, with the Yellow shirt remaining in the possession of Spaniard Gustavo Veloso (W52-FC Porto) and second place being occupied by his teammate João Rodrigues, who is algarvian – in this case, of yolk.

Today, on the climb to the highest city in Portugal, Alejandro Marque (Sporting-Tavira) also stood out. The athlete from the Tavirense club was second in the stage, 11 seconds behind the first and is now 21st overall.

The top three overall reached the goal of the Guard well glued and in the order in which they head the classification. Gustavo Veloso was tenth, João Rodrigues 11th and de Mateos 12th.

In other words, little has changed compared to Sunday, with João Rodrigues 15 seconds behind the yellow jersey and the Louletano athlete 22 seconds behind the leader.

Passing through Canas de Senhorim – 4th category Mountain Award -, David Ribeiro (LA Alumínios-LA Sport) scored two points and became the leader in the classification of the Blue Jersey Liberty Seguros.

The Rubis Gás Green Jersey, leading by points, belongs to Daniel Mestre (W52-FC Porto) and the best young man in the competition is Emanuel Duarte (LA Alumínios-LA Sport) who wears the Jogos Santa Casa White Jersey.

Tomorrow is the day of rest on the Volta a Portugal.
