Salvador Sobral and Maria João join André Santos' Mutrama in Tavira

André Santos, musical director of this project to recreate traditional Madeiran music, will perform in Tavira with several guests

Salvador Sobral and Maria João are two of the voices that will echo in Tavira, during the show “Mutrama”, a project to recreate traditional Madeiran music under the musical direction of guitarist André Santos, which can be seen on Friday, the 23rd, on Republic Square, at 22 pm.

The Madeiran musician, specialist in Madeiran guitars and chordphones (braguinha, rajão and wire guitar), will perform in Tavira with his trio – complete with António Quintino (double bass) and Joel Silva (drums and percussions) - , but also with many guests.

In addition to Salvador Sobral and Maria João, the audience can also count on the voices of , Ricardo Ribeiro and Mariana Camacho, the soprano saxophone by Desidério Lázaro and the tenor saxophone by Francisco Andrade. Graciano Caldeira will also be present, also on the Madeiran cordophone (braguinha).

«”Mutrama” represents a reconciliation with the past and, with it, the return of an almost completely unknown Portuguese songbook, smothered by the promise of cosmopolitanism and folklorization», according to Câmara de Tavira.
