Quinta do Bill will give a concert, on August 15th, at 22 pm, at the Festas em Honra de Nossa Senhora dos Mártires, in Castro Marim.
The festivities run from the 11th to the 15th of August, but the religious celebrations are the ex-libris.
On the 15th of August, Thursday, hundreds of people gather in procession through the streets of the village, in an expressive expression of faith in honor of the patron saint of Castro Marim.
The celebrations begin this year as part of the sea competition “Vila de Castro Marim”, at Praia da Alagoa (Altura), organized by Leões do Sul Futebol Clube, on August 11, at 10:00 am.
As part of the International Youth Day, the municipality organizes, on August 13th, a program with activities particularly designed for this age group, laser tag, color run and a foam party animated by “DJ Karussa”, taking place at Polidesportivo de Castro Marim, at 20:00.
The opening of the Crafts and Ethnography Fair will continue the festivities on Wednesday, August 14, at 20:00. The Arutla dance group goes up on stage (22:00), led by teacher Laura Pook and Clube Recreativo Alturense.
The day in honor of the patron saint, 15th of August, starts earlier, with Arruada at 8:30 am, by Banda Musical Castromarinense.
This is followed by the Raising of the Flag and the religious celebrations with recitation of the rosary and a solemn mass in the Igreja Matriz (11:15), later resumed at 19:00, when the venerated image of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires is prepared to leave the Parish Church and walk in procession through the streets of the village, accompanied and greeted by hundreds of devout faithful, who annually participate in this pilgrimage.
The main day of the festivities will bring to the stage “Quinta do Bill”, with hits that are so culturally familiar to us, such as “Os Filhos da Nação”.
This will also be the day of the 3rd edition of the annual futsal tournament “Nelson Solá”, scheduled for 9:00 am, Castromarinense's posthumous tribute to the former player.
The Festivals in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires are organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Parish of São Tiago and are supported by Local Clubs and Associations.
