The Clube Oriental de Pechão and the União de Freguesias de Moncarapacho and Fuzeta will organize the first edition of the “Florival Faria” trail, on the 15th of September, in Moncarapacho.
This trail running event will have three distinct courses, a longer one, 30 kilometers, and a short trail, 18 kilometers, as well as a 10 kilometers walk.
In the two trail competitions, there will be the option of teams, which allows four athletes, regardless of gender and level, to participate together, «with the main objective of strengthening the team spirit and helping each other during the competition».
«The race intends to honor Florival Faria, one of the greatest exponents of national motorcycling. An admired and inspiring athlete from several generations, who saw him as an example for his determination, persistence and sportsmanship, Florival Faria was an eclectic athlete, having stood out, particularly, in cycling, motorcycling and athletics. Athletics, and in particular trail running, was his last passion, to which he dedicated himself (almost) until the last days of his life, making Cerro de São Miguel his favorite track and an example for many athletes in the sport», they revealed the race organizers.
Enrollment runs until September 9th and must be made on the Crono.AAAlgarve platform of the Algarve Athletics Association.
