The Feasts in Honor of Our Lady of the Mártires, whose celebrations ended this Sunday, 15th of August, once again had a full house.
«One of the most emblematic and significant for the people of Castromarin, the celebrations of the Feasts in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires had their highest moment yesterday, with the Procession in Honor of the patron saint», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
“Hundreds of people followed the image of Our Lady of the Martyrs through the streets of the border town and then watched the great concert by “Quinta do Bill”, which closed this edition of the event,” he adds.
But the celebrations started days before, with the “Vila de Castro Marim” Sea Test, which took place on August 11, at Praia da Alagoa, in Altura, organized by Leões do Sul Futebol Clube.
«It is the most important swimming event that takes place in the municipality of Castro Marim and is part of the XXVII Swimming Circuit of Mar do Algarve».
The party continued on the 13th, with the Youth Festival, which marks the International Youth Day. The initiative, which had its 3rd edition this year, is gaining more and more audiences. This year 350 young people joined a program, which featured laser tag, One color run and, finally, a foam party animated by DJ Karussa.
On the 14th and 15th of August it was the Praça 1º de Maio, which hosted the municipality's handicrafts and ethnography, in a living display of the heritage preserved by the knowledge of the hands. The Festa was resumed in the heart of the village of Raiana three years ago, where it had been held since its inception.
The group from ARUTLA took to the main stage of these parties on Wednesday night, showing «the fruit of the commitment and dedication they give to the dance».
It all ended with the popular Portuguese band “Quinta do Bill”, which has a 32-year career, with successes that unite generations.
The 15th of August was also marked by the 3rd edition of the annual futsal tournament “Nelson Solá”, in a posthumous tribute by the Castromarinense to the former player.
The Festivals in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires were organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Parish of São Tiago and supported by Clubs, Local Associations and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Castro Marim.
