Farense midfielder André Vieira, 26, underwent surgery about 15 days ago to remove an "ugly sign" on his skin that "could be problematic" in the future. The athlete clarified, this Wednesday, that he does not have cancer, as it was reported.
Liga Portugal, in a note published on the website, wrote this Wednesday that André Vieira «was operated on for an oncological problem about fifteen days ago», but the midfielder explained, on social networks, that it was «to remove an ugly sign that had in the leg, here in Faro, in a local dermatologist, which had to be removed because it was ugly and strange and could, in the future, give rise to a cancerous sign».
According to the 26-year-old player, the sign was removed “in time, so that it wouldn't cause something dangerous and carcinogenic in the future” and “everything is fine. I don't have cancer, as mentioned».
André Vieira also explains that the reason he's still out is due to “the fact that I'm a professional player and that my skin doesn't have elasticity. When they removed the sign, they did it in a deep way, to clean the entire area well, so that no debris was left, and they had to make a skin section to close the area».
According to the athlete, in that area, «only 10% of the graft is likely to get well, they only got some areas and that's why I'm still stopped. I can't play because now the skin has to close all by itself and it takes longer».
Farense also commented on the situation explaining that «the athlete André Vieira recently had a health problem and is doing well. We are certain that he will go back to doing what he likes most, playing football».
The Algarve club says it is certain that the athlete «will go back to doing what he likes most, playing football» and emphasizes that «the entire structure and athletes of Farense, as well as their partners and supporters, want André Vieira to quickly return to demonstrate everything. its quality on the field, in favor of Farense and Portuguese football».
In the note published on the Liga Portugal website, Pedro Proença, president of the organization, wished «rapid improvements» to André Vieira.
