Loulé Market celebrates 111th anniversary with photography book

The work includes 50 black and white photographs taken by Vítor Pina

The photography book “Gentes no Mercado de Loulé”, by Vítor Pina, is presented this Wednesday, 3rd July, at 18:30 pm, in the emblematic space in Loulé.

This is an initiative integrated in the commemorative program of the 111th anniversary of this ex-libris of the city: the Loulé Market.

The work includes 50 black and white photographs taken by the photographer, as part of his partnership with the municipal project Loulé Criativo, during the creative tourism activity: Loulé Street Photography, on Saturday mornings. The images focus on the people who sell in the Market but also on those who flock to the city to visit or shop.

In his work, Vítor Pina tried to capture the commotion that is experienced in this historic place, as well as the importance of the people who frequent it.

Photographer and landscape architect, his photographic work is essentially street photography.

He is the author of the “Algarvios” project and winner of the REFLEX award in 2014 and 2019, promoted by Associação Cais and Novo Banco.

He has participated in several events promoted by the Municipality of Loulé such as the MED Festival, Loulé Carnival, Salir do Tempo or the Walking Festival.

The celebrations of the 111 years of Loulé Market will also include a musical moment by the Ensemble of flutes of the Escola de Música of the Sociedade Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva, as well as a tasting of the traditional Loulé puff pastry, currently being voted on for the 7 Sweet Wonders of Portugal.
