Lagos supports sailing and adapted sports with €48 thousand

More expressive support (46 thousand euros) went to the Clube de Vela de Lagos

The City of Lagos approved, this Wednesday, 17 July, the attribution of 48 thousand euros to sports entities linked to sailing and adapted sports.

The most expressive support (46 thousand euros) went to the Clube de Vela de Lagos and is intended for the acquisition of four boats (two semi-rigid and two Laser boats) for the Sailing School and support for tests, as well as maintenance from the Mooring Pier for large vessels.

This subsidy is based on the Training and Support Program for Sports Associations of the Municipality of Lagos – Financial Support for the Construction, Expansion and/or Rehabilitation of Sports Facilities and Equipment, a measure to encourage the practice of sports that, due to their specificity, require own facilities and large resources in terms of equipment.

The sailing modality was the object of another financial support, of 1000 euros, in the case attributed to the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, for the 27th Volta ao Algarve à Vela, which runs until this Saturday, 20 July, from Barlavento to Sotavento, between the Marinas of Lagos and Tavira, with a stop at Faro, in Ilha da Culatra and Albufeira.

Adapted Sports were also awarded financial support of 1000 euros, awarded to the Casa do Povo of S. Bartolomeu de Messines.

This support is provided by way of co-payment in the expenses of traveling by the wheelchair handball team to participate in the National Championship games of this modality, since it is the only wheelchair handball team in the Algarve.
