It is now possible to renew the Citizen's Card at the Balcão Único de Portimão

Municipality provides officials "duly qualified for the procedures relating to the renewal of the Citizen's Card".

The Portimão City Council provided space and employees at the Balcão Único de Portimão, located in the heart of the city, to allow for the in-person renewal of the Citizen's Card for persons over 25 years of age.

This new value arises from the Municipality's adhesion to the protocol recently established between the Agency for Administrative Modernization, the Institute of Registries and Notaries (IRN) and the Institute of Financial Management and Justice Equipment, «with a view to reducing the existing long lines at the Civil Registry Office of Portimão to deal with matters associated with the Citizen's Card», stresses the municipality.

Among other powers, the Municipality of Portimão provides “some duly qualified employees for the procedures relating to the renewal of the Citizen's Card”.

The objective of this government commitment, adopted by the Municipality of Portimão, is to make the process of renewing that identification document more convenient and accessible, by reducing average waiting times and rationalizing human and technological resources, and it should be noted that the fees collected with this new service they will revert in their entirety to the IRN.

The Balcão Único Municipal is located on Rua do Comércio, offering personalized and professional service, with extended and continuous opening hours from 9:00 am to 19:00 pm, in the heart of the city.

This municipal equipment registered, in the months of April and May this year, more than 5000 thousand people attended.

"There are many thousands of citizens who go to Balcão Único every month, which also helps to give more animation to the city center," said Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, in recent presentation of the summer events program.

With this new valence of BUM, added the mayor, "the Chamber will only have expenses, but I have not stopped accepting this new task so that we can provide a new service to citizens and thus also bring more people to the city center."
