Pirata Festival returns to Olhão and debuts in Fuzeta

Pirate Festival runs from 1st to 4th of August

The «largest Pirate Festival ever» will liven up downtown Olhão and the fishing village of Fuzeta between Thursday and Sunday.

The Chamber of Olhão once again promotes this event, which will bring to the council «moments of entertainment, historical recreation, performing arts, scrimmages, stories and circus arts», according to the municipality.

This year, the big news is the extension of the festival to Fuzeta, in whose riverside area there will be daily street entertainment between 17pm and 00pm.

In the city of Olhão, the party also takes place on the waterfront. The already traditional market returns «to the place where it started – Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes, where, in the meantime, all the necessary conditions were created, namely the placement of a 150 square meter stage».

"The number of merchants also increases this year, from 30 to 50, as well as the number of opening hours, being open Saturday and Sunday throughout the day," added the Chamber of Olhão.

Visitors can also count on typical characters of the time, «such as milkmaids, fishmongers, washerwomen, water sellers, fishermen, sailors, or bourgeois, who will star in moments of animation, historical recreation, performing arts, scrimmages, stories, circus arts, music and dance».
