Loulé International Jazz Festival celebrates 25 years of success

Mário Laginha becomes artistic director again

The Loulé International Jazz Festival celebrates 25 years of success, with another edition scheduled for the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of July, at Cerca do Convento Espírito Santo. 

«Once again under the artistic direction of Mário Laginha, the Festival presents perhaps the most American program ever, with musicians and bands from South America and also from North America. It is an ambitious poster, which combines sounds and musicians with very different paths», says Câmara de Loulé.

The event kicks off with the performance of Ben Wendel Seasons Bad, led by Canadian saxophonist, bassist, pianist and composer, Ben Wendel. On the 26th, there will be a participation from Buenos Aires, Diego Schissi Quinteto, who will bring a fusion of Tango and Jazz, while also originally from Argentina, the Trio Leo Genovese takes to the stage on the 27th, with hypnotic power of this virtuoso pianist.

He is also joined this evening by the American singer and bassist: Esperanza Spalding. At the end of this 25th edition of the Loulé International Jazz Festival, the Portuguese-Brazilian union takes place through a joint show by the Loulé Jazz Trio and the Brazilian singer Mônica Salmaso.

Prices vary between 10 and 15 euros a day and the ticket for the four days will cost 30 euros.
