The Chamber of Faro will receive today the flag “City of Excellence – Level III”, which rewards good practices in the axes of accessibility for all and pedestrian and cycling mobility, in a ceremony that will take place at 17:30, in Paços do Concelho.
The municipality of Faro will receive this distinction, awarded by the Network of Cities and Towns of Excellence, «as public recognition of the meritorious work that has been developed in the scope of the city's qualification works», revealed the Chamber of Faro.
The award is justified «by the degree of evolution of the implementation of the Local Action Plan proposed by the Municipality of Faro upon joining the Network of Cities and Villages of Excellence, focusing on the axes “City or Village of Urban Regeneration and Vitality” and “City or Village of Cycling and Friendly Mobility”».
«The delivery of this award by the Network of Cities and Villages of Excellence recognizes the source of plans, projects, actions or initiatives, in a context of smooth mobility accessibility, that took place or will take place in the public space of Faro, thus aiming to turn this urban nucleus into a space that excels for universal accessibility and for the focus on smooth modes of travel», added the municipality.
Another factor that helped Faro distinguished was «the set of actions that qualify the urban space of Faro which are executed, in execution or at the project stage'.
