Baixa Street Fest returns on 2 August

An entertainment initiative is also being prepared for Saturday afternoons

The fourth edition of the Baixa Street Fest, in Faro, starts on the 2nd of August and runs until the end of the month. «These will be moments of great animation and dynamism of the entire downtown area of Faro, which will take place on five consecutive Fridays, coinciding with an important holiday period for the majority of Portuguese and foreigners who annually visit the region», highlights the Chamber of Faro.

As in the three previous editions, «this is an event that promotes the culture and interaction of the population and visitors with the commerce and public spaces of Baixa de Faro, between 21 pm and midnight».

The programming of the Baixa Street Fest will be mainly itinerant, in the format of musical streets, «with the aim of covering a greater area of spectators' affluence, in addition to more fixed moments of various arts, such as theatre, new circus and performing arts », explains the municipality.

One of the main novelties for this 4th edition is the integration of urban art in the program, with the painting of six removable panels on themes related to the city of Faro, by experienced and nationally renowned artists.

To complement Friday evenings, the entities involved say that they are also preparing an entertainment program for Saturday afternoons aimed mainly at families and the youngest, which will start in September, lasting 2 months until the beginning of November.

With this bet, the Chamber of Faro says that it intends to «mitigate the effects of seasonality and reinforce the commercial and leisure attractiveness of downtown Faro».

The Baixa Street Fest initiative is organized by the City Council of Faro, ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve and ADCZHF – Association of Commercial Development of the Historic Area of Faro.
