João Vasconcelos should be, again, the 1st candidate of the Left Bloc for the constituency of the Algarve in this year's Legislative Elections. A “100% parity” list, headed by the current deputy to the Assembly of the Republic, was approved in a District Assembly of members of the Bloc/Algarve, which took place on Saturday.
The list headed by João Vasconcelos, which received 79% of the votes of the 62 people present, will still have to be confirmed by the National Board of the Bloc, which will meet on Saturday, the 6th, «to decide on the circle of Faro and on the other constituencies, except Aveiro, Braga and Europa, which have already been approved», as revealed by the deputy to the Sul Informação.
In practice, and as far as the Algarve is concerned, this is equivalent to saying that the National Bureau will “decide on the first two candidates”, a right that the party's statutes give to this body.
From the Algarve, the homework it's done. In other words, there is already a proposal for a list, which gathered consensus, consisting of 14 elements – 9 effective and 5 alternates.
