The summer in Tavira will have «culture and art for everyone», from theatre, dance, new circus, poetry and concerts by Salvador Sobral and Miguel Araújo.

It all starts with “Cenas na Rua – International Festival of Theater and Street Arts”, the biggest of its kind in the South, and which takes place during the entire first fortnight of July (1st to 14th).

Several national and regional structures will be present, such as Companhia da Esquina, Armação do Artista, Ao Luar Teatro and Regional Theater of Serra de Montemuro.

“O Mar de Sophia”, by the Poetry Ensemble group, marks the centenary of the birth of Sophia de Mello Breyner.

On an international level, the French Cirque Rouages ​​will present a show on the issue of migrants. The Spanish companies Cia. El Carromato, Vol and Temps, Ganso & Cia., Yllana, Pepa Cases, Cia. Nueveuno will also be present in Tavira with “Sinergia 3.0”, a show based on the work of Leonardo Da Vinci, in commemoration of the 500 years after his death.

Cia. Titiritrán Teatro, in turn, will present “Arturo e Clementina”, a show for children and adults, winner of several awards.

In the field of dance, Quorum Ballet will present “Correr o Fado”. The electronic music dedicated to Amália Rodrigues and Carlos Paredes will be concluded, with Stereossauro – “Bairro da Ponte” and guests.

“Jazz no Verão”, between 18 and 20 July, includes concerts by Maria Anadon, “Elas eo Jazz” with Joana Machado, Marta Hugon and Mariana Norton and also Bernardo Moreira Sexteto and “Entre Paredes”, a tribute to master of the Portuguese guitar Carlos Paredes.

The usual and well-attended concerts at the Palácio da Galeria Park will feature well-known voices from the Portuguese light music scene, such as Salvador Sobral (23rd July), with the new work “Paris, Lisboa”, Aldina Duarte (7th August) and Miguel Araújo (21st August).

Jardim do Coreto will stage, on Tuesdays, voices and amateur fado projects with the support of Fado com História.

Praça da República will have a diversified and intense program, crossing local projects, folklore groups and philharmonic bands, with national and international projects with a Portuguese-speaking matrix.

Ana Lains with Mafalda Arnauth and Celina da Piedade will present “Portucalis” (8th of August). As part of the Commemorations of the 600 years of the Discovery of Madeira Island, there will be “Mutrama” by Maria João and Salvador Sobral (23/08).

Daniel Pereira Cristo will present “Cavaquinho Cantado” on August 30th.

On the anniversary of José Afonso's birth (02/08), there will be a tribute from “Por terra do Zeca”, João Afonso, Filipa Pais, Zeca Medeiros, David Zacarias and Maria Anadon.

The appreciated “Gala Lírica” has the presence of some of the most renowned opera singers and musicians, in an evening that promises operatic charm. On August 3, excerpts by composers such as Verdi, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Rossini, among others, will be revisited.

From the Terras de Miranda, in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes, come the well-known Galandum Galundaina (August 10th). In the square, there will also be the fado singer Maria Emília (17th August), Os Vocalistas and the Coral Group Cante Alentejano Bel'Aurora (9th August) and the contagious energy of Fogo Fogo, with Cape Verdean rhythms (29th August) .

Shows by Algarve creators and artists are scheduled, such as the Orquestra Clássica do Sul (16th August), Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve (22nd August), “Osmose” and Luís Conceição (24th August) and Teresa Aleixo (25th August) ).

This year, there is also particular emphasis on “INATEL na Rua” (26th to 28th of July), a partnership between the municipality and INATEL, which includes concerts by Luís Peixoto, Toques do Caramulo, “Gajo” and the celebration of National Day of the Philharmonic Bands (September 1st).

“Mostra-Ar Livre Cinema 19” takes place from 11 July to 11 August in the Cloisters of Convento do Carmo, organized by the Cineclube de Tavira.

The Book Fair, in its 25th edition (18 July to 4 August), has the participation of dozens of exhibitors and includes activities by Semente de Alfarroba, namely, the show by the Brazilian Paulo Matricó de Tabira de Pernambuco with “Cordel Operístico Lua Alegria”, by Grafonola Voadora and Napoleão Mira, “Eça Agora” and “Somos Pessoa” by Cia. As Cantadeiras, among others.

The program also includes the Wine Fair “Tavira: Os Dias do Vinho” (12th to 14th of July), Trade Fairs (7th to 15th of August), Antiques and Antiques (17th to 26th of August) and Stocks ( August 29th to September 1st).

In the Municipal Museum of Tavira it is also possible to visit the exhibitions “Artur Pastor and the Southern Worlds” and the restructured “Mediterranean Diet, Millennial Cultural Heritage”, both at Palácio da Galeria. Already, in the Islamic Nucleus, there are patents “Tavira Islâmica” and “Palmira, Queen of the Desert”.

From the 5th to the 8th of September, the VII Mediterranean Diet Fair takes place (included in the Safeguard Plan), which celebrates the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity with all the countries that share this classification.
