University of the Algarve sought partnerships in the Dominican Republic

Algarvian entourage was at the Universidad Nacional Evangélica

The University of Algarve traveled to the Dominican Republic looking for cooperation opportunities in the areas of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, Health, Social Sciences, among others.

A delegation from the Algarve academy spent a week in that country, visited the Universidad Nacional Evangélica and met with the heads of this institution, to talk about potential future collaborations.

The delegation included the coordinator of the International Relations and Mobility Office (GRIM), Marleni Azevedo, the coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division (CRIA), Hugo Barros, professors and researchers from the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Medicine ( DCBM) and the Center for Research in Biomedicine (CBMR), Sandra Pais and Álvaro Tavares.

«In terms of research, experiences in the area of ​​aging were exchanged, which allowed for the assessment of joint studies.

The Portuguese delegation also had the opportunity to teach classes on Entrepreneurship (Hugo Barros, CRIA), Erasmus Opportunities (Marleni Azevedo, GRIM), Musculoskeletal changes associated with aging (Students from the Dietetics course), Sarcopenia and anthropometric assessment in the elderly ( Sandra Pais, CENIE – International Center on Aging).

At the same time, the XV International Congress of Scientific Investigation was held, promoted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) of the Dominican Republic, where the delegation had the opportunity to participate, through various oral presentations.

This visit took place within the scope of the Erasmus ICM Merging Voices project, financed by the European Erasmus program, and the CENIE project, financed by the POCTEP operational program.
