Pedro Xavier appointed coordinator of the Portimão do Aliança council

Pedro Xavier has already been a candidate for the Chamber of Portimão by the PSD

Pedro Castelo Xavier was appointed coordinator for the Portimão council of the Partido Aliança.

The name of Pedro Xavier, an economist, aged 45, was chosen by Telmo Martins, district coordinator of the party, «to implement and develop the strategy of the Aliança Party in Portimão».

«Since Portimão is one of the largest municipalities in the Algarve region, it was essential for Aliança to move forward quickly with a local structure for the municipality of Portimão. Pedro Xavier fulfills the intended principles and values, I am sure it will be an asset», said Telmo Martins in a statement.

With this nomination, the Aliança Party considers that "it fills a gap that existed in the Western Algarve, and can now develop its policy of proximity "from people to people".

Pedro Xavier "now faces an important challenge, with a focus on the dissemination and implementation of the party in the municipality," adds Aliança.

The Alliance considers that with this appointment "it is strengthened and thus better prepared to start the campaign for the Legislative Elections next October."

«The District Committee of Aliança Algarve, is committed to the preparatory work necessary for the upcoming electoral campaign», guarantees the leader of the party in Algarve.

Pedro Xavier was head of the list by the PSD to the Portimão Chamber, in the 2013 municipal councils and was elected councilor. However, he made a secret pre-electoral agreement with the PS to make the executive of Isilda Gomes, who did not have a majority, viable, receiving, in exchange, the position of permanent councilor, with areas of responsibility.

This agreement did not sit well with the Social Democrats' District, which launched a disciplinary procedure for him, leading to his suspension from the party, from which he later resigned.
