Odemira shows “A Dozen of Affections” in the library

Exhibition is open until Friday

The exhibition “Uma Dúzia de Afetos” will be on display until September 28, at the José Saramago Municipal Library, in Odemira.

In this exhibition, drawings by Ana Monsanto can be seen, with variations on the work of Margarita Sikorskaia, accompanied by texts by Vitor Encarnação.

«The initiative was born without debate, it was discovered and formed without any dialogue between the two authors, where very little was written on purpose, nothing was painted to match the words. The authors just let their friendship and their life experiences flow», describes the Chamber of Odemira.

Ana Monsanto was born in Lisbon. With family roots in São Martinho das Amoreiras, municipality of Odemira, he settled in Ourique to practice medicine. Vítor Encarnação was born in Aldeia de Palheiros, is a teacher of English and German at the Ourique Schools Group and is a collaborator in the regional press and author of several titles. They have known each other for three decades and had already crossed paths in various professional, community and cultural projects.

«Ana Monsanto's approach to the world of painting created in her the perception that a drawing contains a message that needs to be replicated and translated through writing. The desire to share “in two voices” gave rise to the invitation for Vítor Encarnação to give his interpretation. The affections (or lack of them) so evident in the drawings, as a fundamental element in their condition as sensitive and emotional beings, had to be present somewhere in the writing. One by one, each drawing found the words it wanted and each text found the drawing it needed», concludes the Chamber of Odemira.
