Infrastructures of Portugal puts variant of Aljezur «back on the agenda»

A delegation of the public company was in Aljezur and made commitments for the future

The construction of a bypass to the EN120, which diverts traffic from the interior of Aljezur, as well as the widening and upgrading of 25 de Abril street, which crosses the town, are «again on the agenda» of Infraestruturas de Portugal.

The guarantee is given by the municipal executive in Aljezur, who has been working with the Government to unblock the situation in the Aljezur bypass.

"This process has not had any evolution since 2009, but it is taking on an increasingly urgent approach, either towards the feasibility of a solution that points to the implementation of this variant or another solution that can alleviate the impact of the flow of traffic on the main artery of the town of Aljezur», recalled the Chamber.

The municipality's pretensions were, it seems, closer to being satisfied after the recent visit to Aljezur of a delegation led by Serrano Gordo, vice president of Infrastructures of Portugal, who met with the municipal executive, visited the land and made an "assessment of possibilities and possible future implementations".

In the end, it was stipulated that the public company, «in addition to the possibility of a variant, will study the possibility of intervention on the road (Rua 25 de Abril), with a view to its widening, improving car circulation, urban mobility and parking ».

The City Council of Aljezur also received a guarantee that the work on Pontão do Areeiro will advance in 2019.
