The open-air Cinema Exhibition takes place from the 11th to the 21st of July and from the 1st to the 11th of August, at Convento do Carmo, in Tavira.
This is the 19th edition of the initiative, organized by the Cineclube de Tavira, with sessions always taking place at 21 pm.
According to the organization, the objective is to “promote big names in world cinema”, as well as “emerging directors, in order to bring to the public various ways of looking at and thinking about cinema”.
This year, for example, it will be possible to see the director Hirokazu Kooreda, with “Shoplifters”, a film for which he won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, “O Infiltrado”, by Spike Lee, “Estiu 1993”, by Carla Simón, or “Girl” by Lukas Dhont.
We celebrate cinema with an icon like Jean-Luc Godard with the Picture Book, an ode to cinema and a reflection on the state of the world, for which he won the Palme d'Or Special at the Cannes Film Festival.
«Like last year, when we had a session with the presence of the director Marco Martins, this year we will have the presence of Rita Azevedo Gomes, director of “A Portuguesa”», says the organization.
The film starts from a short story by Robert Mussil and had the participation of Agustina Bessa-Luís in the film adaptation which, according to the director, gave us «extraordinary and surprising» dialogues.
“A Portuguesa” will be the film that will close this year's Mostra.
