Healthy, smart and friendly environments discussed in Faro

Portuguese Healthy, Smart and Friendly Environments network promotes session in the Algarve

Healthy, smart and friendly environments will be discussed in a session scheduled for Friday, the 28th, at the headquarters of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Algarve, in Faro.

This international event, which includes a workshop, will be attended by Joan Martin, Executive Director of Louth County Council, the first friendly city of all ages in Ireland, and chair of the European Covenant for Demographic Change (an affiliate of WHO ), which brings practical guidance on how to implement friendly environments for all ages.

The initiative, which is organized by the Portuguese Healthy, Intelligent and Friendly Environments Network, will also feature Fernando Machicado, secretary of CEN-CENELEC and manager of the UNE Construction and Accessibility Program, «who will present the latest standard on “ Accessibility and usability of built environments – Functional requirements” – prEN 17210, developed under the mandate M/420 of the European Commission”, according to the organizers of the event.

Already at the Round Table, another of the actions provided for in the program, participate "illustrious representatives of national public and private entities that will work together on the issue of accessibility and how to ensure that these are properly implemented, namely in the context of funding from Structural Funds."

Altogether, 70 members of the network are expected at this event. The initiative is open to any organization wishing to attend or participate. Applications can be made online, through the form available on this link.
